Pall Mall cigarettes were originally introduced by Butler and Butler in the year 1899, they later sold this brand to American Tobacco. Pall Mall cigarettes were specially made for smokers of high class and style. Pall Mall cigarettes were sold to the American Company in 1907. Pall Mall cigarettes had already established themselves as a premium brand when the acquisition took place, this benefited American Tobacco immensely. They made some interesting changes and introduced their own newer version such as King Size packs, etc. They also brought in a new method of stuffing the tobacco into cigarettes; this was done to make smoking easier and reduce the effect of smoke on the smoker's throat. In 2004, Pall Mall cigarettes became the property of R.J. Reynolds after their merger with Brown and Williamson.
