Ambition to create something new, to be the first to achieve something and the aim to be better than our competitors; these are qualities inherent in every human being, but only few are able to convert this inherent quality to purposeful action. You may wonder what I am alluding to or where am I getting at. These are just some of the thoughts which came to my mind while reading about my favorite cigarette brand, which is camel cigarette. If you read the history of this brand, you will clearly understand the above mentioned points.
Camel cigarettes were created in the year 1913 by Richard Joshua Reynolds. He later on went to start the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. The creator of this brand wanted to develop something new and special, till then majority tobacco users were rolling their own cigarettes, but Reynolds introduced a brand that was pre-packaged and tasted different from any other available cigarettes. His calculated risks paid off and within a year he sold more than 425 million packs of Camel cigarettes. Camel cigarettes are currently made using a blend of Virginia tobacco and Turkish tobacco.
The makers of this brand used numerous promotional slogans to attract more people towards this product. One of them was a teaser that said "the Camels are coming" which was similar to an old Scottish song, "The Campbells are coming." This promotional campaign was an attempt to influence public opinion that coincided with the United States' entry into World War I, and later World War II. Another promotional activity was the use of camel called "Old Joe." The company used to drive trucks around the town with a picture of "Old Joe" and give out few free cigarettes. This was also done in local bars and clubs.
Camel brand of cigarettes comes in numerous variants; this was done to satisfy people of different preferences and styles. These cigarettes are one of the most sought brands in the tobacco market; they are most liked by military men and hard working people. These cigarettes have become synonymous with quality and flavor. These cigarettes can be used as regular brand and also for occasional smoke. The regular brand and its different variants are known for the smoking satisfaction they give the smoker.
